Wheel falls off Air Canada Express flight in Toronto

Emergency vehicles rushed to meet a flight on an Air Canada Jazz flight after one of the plane's landing-gear wheels feel off after landing in Toronto on Sunday.

The Canadian Press has the full story, writing: "Jazz spokeswoman Manon Stuart says the right wheel on the nose gear loosened while the ... propeller plane was taxiing to the terminal to finish its flight from North Bay, Ont."

The Mississauga News says no one among the flight's crew or 72 passengers on the plane was hurt. The CBC adds airport "emergency vehicles raced to the … propeller plane, but the pilots did not lose control of the aircraft during the incident."

None of the press reports identified the aircraft type involved but the Bombardier Q400 is the only turboprop in Jazz's fleet that has a seating capacity to accommodate 72 passengers. Jazz is a regional affiliate that operates Air Canada Express flights for Air Canada.
